Give Detroit is a non-profit corporation with a mission to support charitable organizations and charitable causes in the promotion of their projects and to assist in reaching their fundraising goals.  Give Detroit’s contribution to the fundraising endeavor is its unique online fundraising platform. 

Vetted local charitable organizations are provided their own Give Detroit organizational page.  Potential donors are driven to the charitable organization’s Give Detroit page where the donor learns about the charitable organization’s mission and purpose. 

Using the promotional tools provide through the platform, charitable organizations can create focused funding projects. They can create as many fund-raising projects as they wish.  Each project having its own unique fundraising goals and objectives.  Goals can include cash donations for the project. Each Give Detroit page has donation links for donors to donate cash right through the platform.

However, what makes the Give Detroit platform special is its integration with online shopping catalogs of products.  The Give Detroit platform combined the features of GoFundMe and online retail.

A charitable organization can create a project that includes a request for the donation of retail items that the donor can purchase directly through the platform for the charitable organization. If a donor wishes to only make a partial donation towards a retail item, Give Detroit escrows the donation until all funding of the retail item has been donated and then authorizes the purchase. The advantage to the donor is that they know that their donation is being used for its intended purpose because the donor is literally buying the item through the Give Detroit fundraising platform and the item is being shipped directly to the local charitable organization.

The Give Detroit team stays involved with the local charitable organization through the project fundraising period. Give Detroit will vet organizations, causes and projects to ensure that donations are being used for their intended charitable purpose and will assist the local charitable organization in marketing their projects. Give Detroit handles the majority of the marketing, including digital advertising, e-mail campaigns, organizing fund-raising events, brand promotion and awareness.
